A question - About Federal Interference in Unwilling States and Cities
/Right now there are many right wing people who are demanding Trump send federal forces to protect citizens from the lawless awful rioting, looting, burning, and assaults that have been going on non stop for the past several months.
Initially I agreed strongly with this. The federal government should protect the life, liberty and property of its citizens. It is one of the few things I truly believe the government should be doing!
But recently I have been pondering one very good reason that trump should NOT send federal troops to unwilling democratic cities. This is something I am really divided on and I am curious to hear everyone's thoughts on it.
The Fatal Fail state.
I am a teacher. I learned early on that if I did not allow a student to fail they were smart enough to not try. I had one in particular who simply refused to do his homework. I gave him chance after chance, extension after extension, all with a good heart. And at the end of the year he still had almost a dozen assignments outstanding. He was graduating high school and my choice was now fail him and he doesn't graduate or...not. I worked with his parents and he did the assignments in the week between school and graduation. But had I not kept removing his penalties, his smaller fail states, had I held him responsible earlier it would have been so much better for him.
If trump comes in, and stops the rioting
1 - The people never see the awful damage their policies do. 2 - The democratic leaders will not have to be held up accountable for their soft encouragement of the violence. 3 - The democratic voters will not be confronted with what the democrat rulers they voted in have allowed. 4 - The right wing voters who were complacent and did not vote, and were silent in their beliefs, will be allowed to remain complacent without an accurate fear and disgust of the leaders they passively allowed to remain in office.
If trump waits until a state/city requests his help
1- The people will have seen the damage done. 2 - The democratic leaders will have been held accountable for the death damage and bloodshed they have allowed because at the very least, in requesting help they acknowledge they can't do their job. 3 - The democratic voters will have been confronted with what their democratic rulers have allowed. 4 - The right wing will be confronted with the results of their silence and complacency and will likely be motivated to vote and speak due to a very real threat of personal cost.
Removing the fail state, even if it is a fatal one, allows the problem to continue uncorrected, and if we intervene we remove the penalty from the democratic leadership and the people who allow it.
I was stunned by this argument and as a result:
I find I really disagree with the demand that trump send federal troops to quell the riots in cities/states that have not asked for, or have denied his offers for help.
What do you all think? I am happy to hear all arguments for and against.

The short version is, I believe the states have a large amount of liberty and are free to make really stupid decisions. I believe If they are free to decide they must be free to fail.
