love, Peace, Unity: A Faith Based Approach to Protest and What the Canadians are Doing Right

A faith based approach to protest: What the Canadians are doing right!

As I have watched the progress of the Canadian protest, one thing I have been astonished to see, over and over, is the faith of the people who are setting the tone of love, kindness, unity and respect that permeates this astonishing movement. I have seen video after video of protestors, speakers, truckers, mothers, fathers, and children all calling for love, unity and most of all, peace! But I wanted to make special note of the videos I have found that show the Christian faith that guides those values! I chose three videos which show this and given their context.  And I think it would be a wonderful thing if the people preparing the American version of this protest work to do the same thing!

The initial meeting and prayer as they gathered in Coutts:

Early on in the protest, the group of truckers who gathered at the Coutts boarder had their first official meeting as they prepared to meet with representatives of the local police:

Note: They met peacefully with those officers and the whole thing was respectful and kind.

Veterans taking down the fence around the war memorial:

The city of Ottawa had put up a fence around the veteran’s memorial.  It was absolutely a façade and ridiculous to state that the protest put the monument in danger.  The protestors had been making a point of cleaning and decorating every monument within their reach all week.  I think the city did not want pictures of people coming and kneeling at the statue.  The other day a group of Canadian Vets, who had set up a 24/7 watch over the statue decided to respectfully and safely take down the fence.

Arm in arm against the police and the lord’s prayer: Then singing!

At the boarder officers had been ordered (repeatedly) to “End” the protest.  This was the response of the truckers and their supporters.

If you are interested:

If you don’t believe that this protest is all about the love these people have for one another and Canada, or you think the crowd is violent or ugly, take a look at last Saturday at the weekend height of things!  Listen to the speeches and hear the words of these people.  There is so much LOVE! (Note for dogo lovers he makes a point to say hi to all dogs he sees!) https://youtu.be/4JGLBKPR44U?t=4466

I highly recommend watching as the next bit as he goes up to Parliament Hill and talks to people.  He goes on to talk to several people from communist countries who moved to Canada to escape the tyranny and say how worried they are about seeing the same thing in Canada.  He talks to mothers who cry on his shoulder.  Some who do so in relief that their voices are heard, others who lost loved ones to depression, suicide, or drug overdoses which are rampant in Canada due to lockdowns.  It is beautiful!

Also here is a great series of interviews (from Fox. Sorry for the non-centrist source but very few legacy media people are even talking to protestors) Take a look at the wide variety of people of ages, of backgrounds!  https://www.rebelnews.com/border_blockaders_settle_in_as_tensions_with_police_rise_in_at_coutts_ab_crossing

And here is my concern.  If this doesn’t work, if this peace, love, unity, and earnesty is shut down and maligned with lawfare, abuse, slander, and even force…the rest of the world will take note.  I am afraid of what the American version of this (the attempt at American convoy supposedly starts March 1st) I will look like.  If the Canadians peaceful version is treated so badly, the American version is not likely to have such love, unless we take our notes from our wonderful Canadian neighbors!  If this work of peace is not successful, if it fails, many people will take note.  Well it is said, beware the wrath of a patient man.  It is fearful and my concern is the violence that may come from such a break may well engulf the world.
